FAQ

There are multiple upgrades available for your custom Game Boy.  Depending on your console of choice, the following upgrades are available:

Display options
All consoles in the shop will be equipped with the latest IPS display.
If available, these are optional:

• Regular v2 display
  Standard model: can’t go wrong with this.
• RetroPixel 3.0
  This screen is specifically made for the Game Boy Color. You can adjust alignment and set a logo color.
• IPS Laminated
  The (3.0) laminated IPS display is the latest on the market for the Game Boy Advance.
  The air gap between the display and the glass screen lens is removed and reduces the amount of reflections and glare that can interfere with the viewing experience. The result is a display that appears to be more vibrant, brighter, and clearer than a non-laminated display. If the 3.0 display can’t be use for a certain type of shell, a v5 display will be used.
• TFT display
  It has the same display effect as AGS-101. No ghosting, better colors, brighter backlight and visible lines.

Battery Upgrades

• Rechargeable battery module.
  With this upgrade, the Game Boy will be equipped with a battery from 800mAh to 1200mAh.  Depending on which Game Boy you choose, some changes will be made to fit the battery into the shell. For Game Boy Advance and Game Boy DMG there are ready-to-go battery covers available. This charging board module does have led charging indicator and you can use the magnetic USB-C cables from the shop.
• CleanJuice.
  This drop-in module is very popular and also available in the shop. This rechargeable battery will deliver 1700mAh of power and is equipped with USB-C and charge indicator. Works perfectly for a cleaner sound in combination with CleanAmp Pro and dehum/dehiss modules. 

WARNINGS:
Risk of fire if improperly charged or if battery is punctured. Only use protected power sources along with power delivery (PD) compliant cables and chargers. Using uncertified hardware may result in more than 5v being delivered to your rechargeable battery. Damage caused by unsupported hardware voids our return/exchange policy.

Audio Upgrades

• CleanAmp Pro
  The CleanAmp replaces the original audio amplifier of the Game Boy with a loud amplifier. A dehum/dehiss kit is recommended.
• New speaker
  Speaker replacement. This clear speaker will look great in a clear shell and is 15% louder
• Dehum/dehiss
  This kit consists of the perfect spec capacitors to filter out the noise on the console itself, produced by the CPU, SRAM and power regulator.

Please be aware that an original Game Boy may produce some noise, and these upgrades can potentially amplify that noise, making it impossible to completely eliminate it.

Other Upgrades

• IPS TV-Out
  With this upgrade you can connect your console and play your favourite games on TV. (AV cable included) This display also comes with some colour palettes, which you can change by using the touch-sensor. (regular v2 IPS display)
• CleanPower regulator
  The CleanPower replaces the original power regulator PCB of the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Pocket with a modern smooth and health power supply. With the introduction of IPS mods, audio mods and other power hungry alterations to the console, the original regulator on the system is hugely over-strained and fails over time or does not power on at all due to the current draw.
• Clicky triggers
  Only available for Game Boy Advance. This upgrade gives you a pair of lightly clicky triggers instead of spongy triggers, to be much more of a modern feel such as that in the GBA SP A and B buttons.
• LED Board
  Light up your Game Boy. Pair with clear buttons to make your Game Boy shine! This board will be installed directly on the board. (Inside the shell)

(special) parts:

• BOYSMODS utilizes the latest high-quality components available on the market for their builds. For certain builds or specific requests, there are important details that customers should be aware of.
• Crystal Clear shells
  Crystal-clear shells are an excellent choice for special builds, as they allow you to see the interior of the console. However, it’s important to note that they are sensitive to fingerprints and other marks if mishandled.
  
• Matt and Pearl
  Matt colored shells and parts occasionally referred to as Pearl, exhibit a high sensitivity to dust. Cleaning them can be challenging as they tend to show marks easily.
• Painted shells
  

  BOYSMODS aim to use the best quality shells available. However, painted or metallic shells are more prone to scratches and wear. For better durability, we recommend solid or clear shells.

• Double colored shell/buttons
  If you want to combine two different colors of shell parts or mix and match buttons with rubbers, simply
  select the option at the product page. Leave your preferred colors for the front and back shell or button/rubber layout in the message box before starting the configuration tool. Note: Select colors exclusively from those available in the configuration tool.

The prices of the products and services are clearly stated on BOYSMODS website. BOYSMODS reserves the right to update pricing at any time. Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes and shipping fees unless otherwise specified.

Payment methods
PayPal, iDeal, card and banktransfer are accepted.
You represent and warrant that: you have the legal right payment method(s) in connection with any Purchase; and that the information you supply to us is true, correct and complete. You expressly agree that BOYSMODS is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from the submission of false or inaccurate information.

Payment for orders must be made using the payment methods accepted on the website. Payment is required in full before processing the order.

Shipping methods
Shipping costs are automatically calculated in your cart or at checkout, depending on which shipping method you chose. After placing your order, you’ll receive tracking information by mail. It’s important to note that certain services or features may not apply if you choose to downgrade your shipping method to ‘Standard with Track & Trace.’

“Insured shipping with Track & Trace” is recommended for high value products.

Customs duties and taxes
For international orders, customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed by the destination country may apply. These charges are beyond BOYSMODS control and are the responsibility of the recipient.

Lost package
A package is deemed lost when it has not been delivered within a reasonable timeframe after the estimated delivery date, and the tracking information shows no recent updates.

To initiate an investigation, please note that “insured shipping with Track and Trace” is required. If your package is suspected to be lost, please report the issue to BOYSMODS via email, providing the following information:

• Your order number
• The tracking number

We strive to ensure timely delivery of your orders. However, in the event of shipping issues, an investigation may be necessary. Please be aware that while an investigation is ongoing, refunds cannot be processed.

Once we receive an official update from the shipping company, we will inform you promptly and work towards a resolution. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are committed to keeping you updated throughout this process.

Resolution
If your package is confirmed as lost, we will collaborate with you to determine the most appropriate resolution. This may include offering a replacement for the lost items or issuing a refund once the investigation is complete.

Insurance coverage
If your order includes insurance coverage, I’ll initiate the claims process with the carrier to recover the cost of the lost items. If your order is not insured, I’ll continue to collaborate with you to identify an appropriate resolution, but it’s important to note that a refund will not be provided.

Delayed package
Please understand that sometimes packages may encounter delays, including issues at border control or with local carriers. Our commitment to customer satisfaction includes providing assistance in tracking and managing your shipments during such situations.

In the rare event that a package is denied at border control and is returned to BOYSMODS, I’ll work diligently to address the issue and facilitate the package’s return. My goal is to resolve any customs-related concerns and fulfill the package for a second shipment attempt.

Products can be returned within 14 days after receiving.

To be eligible for a return, please make sure that:

• The product isn’t damaged.
• The product isn’t build to your specification. Only products which are in stock and ready to be shipped out, can be returned.
• Returns must be in original condition, along with any accessories and be suitable for resale.

Please chose carefully as BOYSMODS does not usually provide refunds for change of mind. 

Return products
To return products the customer will be required to purchase their own return label. 

Damaged products
If you received a damaged product, please notify me for assistance. When purchasing a custom Game Boy or any equipment/components you are expected to have basic knowledge of these systems. You are expect to test the received items before using. BOYSMODS is not responsible for any damage caused from misuse, negligence or opening the console by the user. 

I personally ensure that every console is rigorously tested before it’s shipped out. However, I understand that shipping always entails some level of risk. If you encounter any issues with your order, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My commitment is to address the problem and work towards a resolution for your order. In the event that a product check-up is necessary, I will cover the shipping costs to get the product back to you, the customer. My goal is to make sure you receive the product you ordered in the best possible condition.

Please purchase appropriate insurance on the parcel. BOYSMODS is not responsible for items damaged or lost in transit during the return process.

Refunds
Accepted returns gets a receipt for a full refund minus any shipping fees. 
Refunding typically takes around 10 days to process. (Except PayPal)

Cancel your order
Most of the time, you can cancel an order if you act quickly. If you wait too long, or if BOYSMODS already have ordered the parts, then you may not be able to cancel. If you need to cancel an order, the first thing you should do is contact the BOYSMODS.

If your cancellation is confirmed, a €5 charge will be made. The reason for this charge is the cost BOYSMODS incur to take your payment that will be lost because ‘change of mind’.

By purchasing our products or the shop, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this policy.

BOYSMODS is not liable for any damage or other issues that may arise from the use of our products.
